Afghan Taliban set on fire the Shortepa district police headquarters after killing at least 11 police officials
Afghan Taliban killed at least 11 police officers in Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province prior to burning their headquarters, sources informed today.
Since the disruption of Taliban- US talks the Talibans have increased their attacks on Afghan government facilities and affiliated persons.
The Taliban led group’s attacks in Balkh’s Shortepa district started yesterday evening and carried into early morning today.
Talibans after taking control of the police headquarters in the district in a gun battle, set it on fire.
Later the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces retook the possession of police headquarters after reinforcements arrived.
Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the group killed 30 police in the district.
Taliban posted a video online showing the police headquarters engulfed in flames, and guns that they had seized.
