Pakistan Army showed great restraint and tolerance during PTI workers attacks on its assets, corps commander’s residence and the cantonment:

Yesterday (on Tuesday) hours after Imran Khan’s arrest in the alleged corruption case arrest by NAB through the Rangers personnel in Islamabad from the Islamabad High Court premises – in an appalling incident of vandalism never witnessed before in Pakistan’s political history, the historic corps commander’s house in Lahore which also served as residence of the founding father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was attacked by PTI supporters/workers.

The violent protesters entered the corps commander’s residence, also known as Jinnah House, ransacked the building, destroyed the furniture, damaged other fixtures and later set it on fire. Columns of smoke rising from the building could be seen from a distance. Per sources neither the corps commander nor any member of his family were present when the incident took place.

Even though highly trained fully armed army personnel were present for the security of the corps commander’s residence and cantonment premises but the Armed Forces intentionally showed highest level of restraint and did not show any resistance to these protesters so as to avoid any harm to the civilians and these protestors. The PTI activists also broke the security cameras installed at the checkposts while setting several vehicles on fire at Cantt Chowk.

The tolerance and restraint shown by the Pakistan Army was taken for granted by the senior PTI leaders who continued provoking workers for further attacks on the state institutions and even civilians on roads and markets creating severe law and order situation.
