Supreme Court grants six weeks bail to Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: The Honorable Supreme Court a while ago on medical grounds granted bail for six weeks to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and ordered his release.

A three-judge bench headed by Hon. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard Nawaz Sharif bail petition being contested by Khawaja Haris.

The bail petition had challenged the previous order of Hon. Islamabad High Court (IHC) which had not granted Nawaz Sharif bail on medical grounds in the Al-Azizia corruption reference.

Nawaz Sharif is bound not to leave Pakistan and is directed to submit two bail bonds amounting to Rs 5 million each.

This is a short order to be followed by a detailed written order.
