Sohail Mahmood approved as Pakistan’s next Foreign Secretary, FM Qureshi

Multan (Monday, 01 April 2019) – Praising Sohail Mahmood the current Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India – Shah Mahmood Qureshi the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs yesterday announced that he recommended and Prime Minister Imran Khan approved to appoint Sohail Mahmood as the next Foreign Secretary of Pakistan after Tehmina Janjua’s retirement on 16th April.

The foreign minister also lauded the services of Tehmina Junjua who is Pakistan’s first women foreign secretary and served Pakistan sincerely.

The appointment of Sohail Mahmood as Foreign Secretary is greatly welcomed by Indian bureaucracy and media also.

India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria in his official tweet said: “Congratulations to ace diplomat Sohail Mahmood on his appointment as Pak Foreign Secretary! The India innings will no doubt equip him to infuse greater positivity, newer ideas to #India-Pak ties!

Sachin Parashar a senior Indian Journalist in a tweet said that “This is something which even India should approve of.  Sohail Mahmood, with his calming influence, really is the man to be handling relations with India in these difficult times. And of course overall Pak foreign policy”.
