Pakistan’s Defence & Martyrs Day observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day
Pakistan’s Defence and Martyrs Day is being observed today as Kahmir Solidarity Day in the backdrop of severe inhumane barbarian acts by the Indian government and Indian armed forces against the innocent Kashmiris of the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
Pakistan observes the Defence and Martyrs day to pay tributes to the martyrs and ghazis and reaffirm commitment to defend the motherland against all threats. It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled evil intentions of the enemy.
The day started with special prayers being offered after “Fajr prayer” in mosques for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and its nation and independence of IOK from the cruel and illegal control of India. Fateha and Quran Khawani was also held for the martyrs.
The day dawned with 31 gun salute at the Federal Capital and 21 gun salute at provincial capitals.
The principal ceremony of the day was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Pakistan’s Armed Forces headquarter in Rawalpindi to pay tributes to the martyrs.
A notification was issued by the Federal Interior Ministry directing all the offices throughout the country will be closed by 3pm to mark the day and show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
At Mazar-e-Iqbal Lahore today morning a special ceremony was held on the eve of Defence and Martyrs Day.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour.
Maj Gen Muhammad Aamir laid floral wreath on the Mazar of Dr Allama MUHAMMED Iqbal.
A change of guard ceremony was at held at mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi today morning.
Pakistan Air Force Asghar Khan Academy smartly turned out contingent assumed the guard duties while Air-Vice Marshal Hamid Rashid laid floral wreath on Mazar and offered Fateha.
