Sri Lanka Explosions – Churches, Hotels targeted killing at least 190

COLOMBO (Sunday, 21 April, 2019) – Today on Easter Day Sri Lanka’s capital was hit by at least eight reported blasts at three churches and four hotels killing atleast 190 people and wounding more than 400, as per local sources.

Three churches in Negombo, Batticaloa and Colombo’s Kochchikade district were targeted during Easter services.

The hotels all in Colombo being targeted are Shangri-La, Kingsbury, Cinnamon Grand and a fourth hotel.

The Sri Lankan government imposed curfew from 18:00 to 06:00 local time (12:30-00:30 GMT).

The law enforcing authorities of Sri Lanka have reacted promptly by blocking all social media networks (temporarily) and having arrested at least seven people suspected to be related to the blasts as per sources.

The attacks are being suspected to be done by a single group – even though till now no local or international group or organization has claimed the responsibility.

Four Pakistanis were injured with minor wounds who were being treated and released from the hospitals while at least nine foreigner from other countries are killed in the blasts.
