IMF- Pakistan negotiations resume as Abdul Hafeez Shaikh takes charge of economy

Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh the newly appointed Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs resumed negotiations with International Monetary Fund (IMF) by initiating telephonic conversation with IMF Mission Chief to Pakistan Ernesto Ramirez-Rigo today.

While discussing the current state of negotiations between Pakistan and IMF resolve for moving the discussions forward was agreed upon and the IMF mission visit to Pakistan by the end of this month has been planned.

Earlier Hafeez Shaikh talked with IMF Director Jihad Azour.

Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has been appointed as Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs in replacement of Asad Umar the PTI led government’s Federal Finance Minister.

There is no doubt that Abdul Hafeez Shaikh is one of the world’s best financial and economic expert but the big question is why such an expert is brought into the government so late after playing havoc with the economy by handing it over to a non-serious non-qualified Finance Minster in shape of Asad Umar who doomed both the Pak economy and the PTI led government.
