Funeral prayer of the ten coal miners belonging to the Hazara community |who were killed brutally in an attack on January 3| was offered a short while ago.

The shuhadas were laid to rest at Quetta’s Hazara Town cemetery a while ago after the deadlock between the government and the Hazara protesters came to an end a few hours ago.

Around 5000 people attended the funeral prayers led by Allama Raja Nasir Abbas in Quetta’s Hazara Town.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, Federal Minister, Ali Zaidi, Provincial Ministers and leaders of different political parties and a large number of people from the surrounding areas attended the funeral prayers.

The protestors had earlier refused to bury the deceased unless Prime Minister Imran Khan visited them and addressed their concerns, continuing to stay on the road alongside the dead bodies of their loved ones for six days, eventually agreed to bury the deceased after negotiations with a government team succeeded in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Imran Khan had in response stated officially that “I want to reassure the Hazara families who lost their loved ones in a brutal terrorist attack in Machh that I am cogniscant of their suffering & their demands. We are taking steps to prevent such attacks in the future & know our neighbour |India| is instigating this sectarian terrorism”, “ I share your pain & have come to you before also to stand with you in your time of suffering. I will come again very soon to offer prayers and condole with all the families personally. I will never betray my people’s trust. Please bury your loved ones so their souls find peace”.

Now that the burial of the Hazara Shuhadas has been done as per Islamic rituals the Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to reach Quetta anytime today and meet with the bereaved families.

The background of Mach Tragedy is that on Sunday Jan, 3rd, 2021 eleven miners were brutally massacred when armed assailants entered their residential compound in the Mach coalfield area of Balochistan where they were sleeping, blindfolded and trussed them up before executing them. The militant Islamic State (IS) group, also known by the Arabic acronym Daesh has the same day claimed responsibility for the attack.
