Election Desk (Islamabad): As the Pakistani nation gears up for general elections 2018, electioneering and campaigning of all political parties are to end 48 hours prior to the polls.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a code of conduct to political parties and independents. Section 182 of the Act sets the 48-hour deadline for the electables after which no rallies or corner meetings will be allowed.
According to the Elections Act 2017, all political activities must wrap up by midnight tonight.
Print and electronic media will also be barred from carrying advertisements promoting political parties. Therefore, all political parties have geared up for their last day of campaigning. The law prohibits any rallies or jalsas held after the prescribed deadline.
