Pakistanis celebrated “Sultanate of Oman’s 52nd National Day” with great enthusiasm

H.E.  Al-Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Omer Ahmed Al-Marhoon the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Islamic Republic of Pakistan on this occasion in his message said: “ On the auspicious occasion of the 52nd National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, I would like to express my pleasure and satisfaction that also gives me the opportunity to celebrate and laud the cordial relations between both brotherly countries Oman and Pakistan. I would also like to mention that both the countries have deep rooted and remarkable ties, which could and should be developed more in the fields of trade, economy, culture and tourism as there exist great opportunities in these fields.

MUSCAT / ISLAMABAD (The HQ News) – Pakistani’s living in Sultanate of Oman celebrated the 52nd National Day of the Sultanate of Oman with great enthusiasm, praising the Sultanate’s head of State His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik under whose rule the country is becoming a fast growing economic and tourist hub with unlimited opportunities for the expatriates, businesses and tourists from all over the world.

The National Day of Sultanate of Oman is an official holiday in the Sultanate of Oman  celebrated on November 18th every year in respect and remembrance of the birthday of Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, who reigned the Sultanate of Oman from year 1970 to 2020.

The Oman National Day is observed by events which include parades, fireworks, camel races, a horse show, and once every five years, a military exhibition drill.

The Sultanate of Oman will celebrate the 52nd National Day on Friday, the 18th of November. Omani people will mark the Renewed Renaissance and its glorious reign under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who affirmed his constant quest to advance Oman’s modern cultural and economic status and his keenness to make Omani citizens as true partners in their country’s comprehensive development.

The relations between Oman and Pakistan are excellent, close, warm, brotherly, cordial and deep-rooted. These relations are characterized by friendliness, cooperation and common perception over regional and international issues. Both countries are members of UN, OIC.

Oman and Pakistan enjoy historical ties in terms of Islam, Islamic culture and social values. Moreover, thousands of Pakistanis are working in Oman and taking part in its development.

I firmly believe that there are large possibilities for increasing the ties in commercial and economic fields. There are also great chances for both the brotherly countries to enhance and further boost the trade by introducing more programs and projects. I would add that there are more opportunities for Pakistanis to invest in Oman and so can the Omanis do here for mutual benefits of economy.

Furthermore, both Oman and Pakistan are culturally rich countries and both should take mutual steps for protection and, as well, exposure of it in an exemplary manner.

I would also like to take the opportunity for encouraging our Pakistani friends to explore Oman and take mutual steps for working together and promoting our mutual interest.

Doctor Malik Akbar a Pakistani highly qualified and experienced doctor residing in the Sultanate of Oman since 2007, rendering services as “Emergency Physician” in a leading Government hospital, Salalah and a prominent community member of Dhofar region having initiated many health awareness campaigns, organized historic  blood donation drive in the town and an active community member of the Dhofar region in his message on this 52nd National Day of Oman on behalf of Pakistani community and himself extended sincere greetings for the Sultanate of Oman.

Major Facts about Sultanate of Oman:

Pakistani origin population born in Oman and those residing in Oman for work or other reasons is around 275,000 as per sources.

The Sultanate of Oman a pearl of Islamic world is the third largest country on the Arabian Peninsula having an area of 309,500 square kilometres (approximately 120,000 square miles) strategically located in the south east corner of the Arabian Peninsula at the junction of Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The Sultanate of Oman is governed by Hereditary monarchy and its current head of state is His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik who ascended to the throne on 11th January, 2020 following the passing away of His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who ruled Oman from 1970 to 2020.

Like His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos, His Majesty Sultan Haitham is a member of the Al Bu Said dynasty that has ruled Oman since the 18th century.

The official language of Oman is Arabic with large population able to communicate in English and the constitution of the country is “The Basic Law of the State 1996”.

The country’s population is around 4.75 million of which half the population is young population of below 30 age group.

The country’s 40 % population consists of non-Omani expatriates which shows the great acceptability of foreign workers and residents by the Sultanate.

The locals of Oman are very friendly, civilized and hospitable.

Oman’s currency is “Omani Rial” which is a strong and stable currency and as per today’s market 1 Omani Rial is equivalent to US $ 2.60

Muscat is the capital  of Oman which lies on the northern coast between the sea and inland mountains. Further north along the coast lies Sohar, the birthplace of Sindbad the sailor, a major industrial and port city.

Oman has a long coastline which includes regions that are green and habitable whereas much of the country’s interior consists of the Arabian Peninsula known as the Rub’ al Khali (The Empty Quarter).

Historically the Sultanate of Oman is considered as an arid desert but recent scientific  evidence suggests that there is water under the sands which may utilized to turn the region green and liveable.

The country is a favorite tourist destination for its unspoilt wilderness, history, culture and attractive landscapes.

The breath-taking serene views and cool temperatures all year round of the Jabal Shams (the highest peak at 3,009 m) in the central region of the Hajar mountains and Jabal Akhdar (Green Mountain) offer heavenly locations to both the locals and the tourists visiting the country.

Salalah the green, fertile coastal city of the Sultanate of Oman situated in the Governate of Dhofar, in southern Oman is a fast growing industrial and free zone hub and operates one of the most active trans-shipment seaport in the region.

Generally Oman’s climate is hot and dry in the interior and hot and humid along the coast – summer temperatures in Muscat often cross 40 °C. Winters are mild and pleasant, with lows around 20 °C.
