Pakistan-India relations heading towards improvement: Shah Mehmood Qureshi

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi speaking at an Iftar dinner at Multan said that the relations between Pakistan and India are heading towards improvement post Pulwama incident.

Pakistan and India both had banned their airspace for each other for international flights which has caused Indian aviation industry particularly commercial aviation severe financial losses and increased the fares tremendously for Indian air travellers – thus India has expressed its desire to lift the ban unilaterally with the expectation of similar action from Pakistan, as per sources.

Qureshi added that Pakistan has extended an offer of talks to the new Indian government for resolving issues as talks are the only way forward for solution of problems between the two countries.

Qureshi reiterated the importance of peace in the region and the desire of Pakistan for peace in the region. He said under this policy Pakistan expressed its readiness to play a part in easing tensions between Iran and the United States.

Qureshi stated that Pakistan has in the recent OIC Makkah Summit urged all muslim countries to jointly raise voice on the issue of blasphemy and Islamophobia in order to make the west understand the feelings of the Muslim Ummah in such serious matters.

In the OIC Mekkah Summit Pakistan also stressed for resolving the Kashmir and Palestine issues on permanent basis, said Qureshi.
