Pakistan Day- celebrations
ISLAMABAD (Saturday, 23 March 2019) – Today with the Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahatir Mohammed as the ‘Guest of Honour’ the Pakistan Day is being celebrated by a joint military parade held at Parade Ground in Islamabad.
President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, Imran Khan Prime Minister Pakistan, Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, chiefs of Pakistan Navy and Air Force, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Commander National Guard of Bahrain Sheikh Mohamed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, federal ministers of Pakistan, foreign diplomats, sports celebrities, mediapersons and a large number of people from all walks of life attended the Pakistan Day parade in Islamabad the capital city of Pakistan.
Earlier the day started with special prayers offered in mosques all over country after Fajr prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country, while the national flag was hoisted on all major government buildings.
Later a 31-gun salute in Islamabad while in provincial capitals Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar 21-gun salutes welcomed the day.
A change-of-guards ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Dr. Allama Iqbal in Lahore.
Pakistan Day is celebrated all over the country with traditional zeal and fervour.
In the evening today an investiture ceremony will also be held at the President House where Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi will confer civil awards on 171 personalities, including some foreigners demonstrating feats in different fields of science and arts.
