Monsoon – Heavy rains and thunderstorms expected in different areas of Pakistan

Monsoon’s strong currents have started which as per Met Office will cause heavy rains and thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds in Sindh, Balochistan, upper and south Punjab, parts of KP and Azad Kashmir during next 24 hours.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said heavy to very heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions on Wednesday and Thursday.

It said flash flooding is also expected in the vulnerable Nullas/streams of eastern Balochistan during the period.

Met Office said the fresh wet spell is likely to prevail in Sindh and Balochistan till Friday.

Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. Strong monsoon currents are penetrating southern parts of the country, while moderate currents in upper parts and Kashmir.

Widespread rain/thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds (with isolated heavy to very heavy falls) is expected in lower Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Karachi divisions), at scattered places in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kalat, Quetta, Sibbi, Zhob, Naseerabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, D.G. Khan, Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Hazara divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Malakand, Peshawar divisions.
