Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s petition accepted while presidential reference against Justice Isa “QUASHED” unanimously

ISLAMABAD (The HQ News) – The Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed the presidential reference filed against Hon. Justice Qazi Faez Isa |wherein allegations against the justice for concealing properties in London were made|.

The case took a total turn yesterday when Zarina Montserrat Khoso Carrera, the wife of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, recorded her detailed statement via video link before the court in which she effectively convinced the honourable members of the bench of her being resourceful enough to have the capacity to purchase properties anywhere in the world at the time when the Hon. Justice Qazi Faez Isa was not even a judge. The spouse of Justice Qazi was able to preliminary eliminate the perception that her properties were linked to the Hon. Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

The wife of the Hon. Justice Qazi further claimed that the entire details pertaining to her transactions / accounts were available with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The counter petition of Justice Qazi Faez Isa was contested by Senior Advocate Munir A Malik who concluded his arguments in the apex court by saying that the federation had “gotten on the wrong bus” in the case.

Munir Malik requested the apex court to dismiss the reference against Justice Qazi adding that a website had been used to search for properties in London. The lawyer told the court that if one wanted to search properties in London, he/she had to pay for the privilege.

He said that the website sends a payment receipt to the relevant person who uses it to search for properties, via email. He said that British-Pakistani lawyer Zia ul Mustafa, who had searched for Justice Isa’s alleged assets, had received three copies of the high commission’s verified properties.

“Copies of politicians’ properties searched were attached as well [in documents submitted],” he said. “If the government provides receipts as well then it will be revealed as to who searched for the properties,” he added.

Malik said that if the search for the properties was conducted by the Asset Recovery Unit, then it should provide receipts. He said that it seemed as if the ARU had only facilitated the search.

“The government only wants to remove the author of the Faizabad dharna case,” alleged Munir Malik.

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) had initiated the proceedings against Justice Isa on allegations that he purchased three properties in London in the name of his wife and children between 2011 and 2015 — but did not allegedly disclose them in wealth returns declared in Pakistan.

The wife and childrens of Justice Qazi Faez Isa though will have to satisfy the tax commissioner of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) at Islamabad regards to the money trail, wealth returns/taxes etc. about the properties as per law as per direction of the apex court – the report of which will be submitted to the apex court.
