IMF Negotiations – No currency exchange rates under discussion, says Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (Thursday, April 4, 2019) | Pakistan’s Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar has stated that there is no commitment of any exchange rate target with International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He further affirmed that exchange rate target is not even under discussion with IMF.

Asad Umar in an official tweet replying to earlier comments of Pakistan’s former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said : “Ishaq dar should have some mercy on Pakistan’s economy. After causing immense damage to the economy in his 4 years in Govt, he is now spreading false news to cause destabilization. No exchange rate target is even under discussion with IMF, let alone be committed”.

But the financial analysts, politicians and public at large are not ready to accept the stance and statements of Asad Umar, as they all claim that the extremely devaluated rupee rate against the US Dollar of Pak Rupee is intentional by the Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf (PTI) led government on the advice of Asad Umar and other financial advisors of the government as being one of the key demand by IMF to sanction loan to the country.

The US Dollar open market rate today is equal to PKR 141.61 causing severe inflation in the Pak economy while making living hard for the low income people of the country due to steep increase in prices of all commodities.
