Huawei revenues reach $100bn amidst US’s restrictions
Huawei the Chinese telecom giant achieved the revenue target of $100bn amidst US’s restrictions and pressure from US allies in Europe blaming Huawei for security threats.
Huawei revenue for 2018 hit 721.2bn yuan ($107bn), with net profit of 59.3bn yuan up by 25%.
The US and others have restricted the company over concerns that its ties to Beijing represent a security threat.
Huawei is contesting the US government ban in court claiming it “unconstitutional.”
Huawei has always denied the allegations of US and US allies that it has ties to Beijing and represent a security threat.
Huawei claims it is independent and strongly denies that its products pose a security risk.
But the resistance against Huawei in Europe Australia and New Zealand is increasing as many of these regions have banned local firms from using Huawei equipment for 5G Networks while UK cyber authority in a recent report has greatly criticised Huawei.
