Death toll from Tezgam train fire incident rises to 73 – public demands resignation of Railway Minister and Senior Officials

Death toll from a fire in three bogies of Rawalpindi bound Tezgam train near Liaquatpur city has risen to seventy three.

As per statement of the federal minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid the fire was caused by a cylinder blast that occurred in the morning when passengers belonging to a tableeghi jamaat headed toward Raiwind were preparing their breakfast.

As per local sources many people saved their lives by jumping off the train other wise death toll could have been even higher.

Baqir Hussain the Incharge Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur informed sources that the fire extinguishing and cooling process has been completed, and the injured passengers are being shifted to Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan hospitals.

Pakistan Army in a prompt response in order to rescue the injured dispatched a helicopter from Multan to the site of incident.

President Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan other senior government officials, political leaders, Supreme Chief of Mandokhel Tribes Sardar Hayaat Mandokhel have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Tezgam Express fire incident.

Supreme Chief of Mandokhel Tribes Sardar Hayaat Mandokhel further declared the Pakistan Railway Authority and its officials responsible for the serious incident as they have no control and check system as to what the passengers are taking with them on the trains – which is a serious issue for which all the senior railway ministry officials are responsible and must be taken to task.

Public as a whole is greatly concerned over the numerous train accidents during the current government’s Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed administration and are demanding the Prime Minister of Pakistan to bring some responsible minister in the like of Murad Saeed of PTI who has totally transformed Pakistan’s National Highways Authority (NHA).
