Confident in China’s ability to contain virus, WHO DG
BEIJING – Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the Director General (DG) of the World Health Organization (WHO) approved China’s measures to curb the outbreak of the corona virus and claimed that he is confident in China’s ability to contain the virus which has killed 106 people, as per sources.
The WHO DG further urged for calm, saying he did not think the evacuation of foreigners from China is necessary, as per sources.
The virus has been spread to different parts of the world though in small numbers but the world is in a state of fear as massive number of populations travel to and from China to all parts of the world and measures are being taken to stop the spread of the virus and special arrangements are being on almost all the world’s major entry and exit points to check the virus presence in any traveller.
The issue is being taken up seriously by the Chinese government and authorities and measures are taken to control and eradicate the virus from within the china on priority basis while those who are affected already are being treated with high level of vigilance to stop its spread to others.
Sri Lanka and Cambodia are the latest countries o have reported the virus.
The head of the WHO, , in a meeting with State Councilor Wang Yi in Beijing, said he approved of the government’s measures to curb the outbreak, the Xinhua state news agency said.
Earlier on 26th Jan the DG WHO had tweeted from his official twitter handle that : “I am on my way to Beijing to meet with the Government & health experts supporting the coronavirus response. My WHO colleagues & I would like to understand the latest developments & strengthen our partnership with [China] in providing further protection against the outbreak”.
