ISLAMABAD (10th December, 2018) Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan chaired a special meeting of the federal cabinet today to review the performance of each ministry and decided that they would be tasked with a specific strategic plan for implementation over the five years, Radio Pakistan reported.

This cabinet meeting held today is one of Pakistan’s history’s longest cabinet meeting having been held for nine hours after being started at 11:30 am today. This only being the Part one of the meeting as several ministers performance review could not be done today due to time limitations for which next date will be announced soon, as per sources.

Initially the rumours were that several ministries will be reshuffled and that from some ministers the portfolios will be taken back too – but sources reveal that to avoid any fractures in the already fragile government which is surviving on only few additional seats from the coalition partners – it was decided by the PM and his advisers to avoid advancing a tough critical stance towards the cabinet members.

The cabinet review meeting, thus having been held under revised strategy was primarily used for another interim progress review of cabinet in extension to the 100 Days Agenda of PTI led government.

Actions taken by respective ministries with regards to service delivery, austerity measures and future plans were discussed, with a view of how to improve each ministry’s performance.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) official twitter handle shared few tweets with regards to the cabinet’s performance review meeting today.

It was decided that each ministry would be further tasked with a specific strategic plan for implementation, spread over five years so that all concerned ministries work as per set targets.

As per Radio Pakistan, it was decided that review meetings will be held on quarterly basis to gauge the performance of every ministry, adopt midway course corrections when required and to ensure that the overall performance of the government is on track.
