Notre-Dame Cathedral Paris – Burnt to Ashes – Saddens the World

PARIS (Tuesday, 16 April 2019) – An 8 hours continuous massive fire burnt a major part of the historic eight-centuries-old Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris.

The fire started yesterday saddening the entire world and took social media by storm as millions expressed their sadness on the historic building being on fire and turning to ashes step by step.

The brave French firefighters did their best to save the building from total collapse but could only save the main bell towers and outer walls from collapse while almost entire priceless artwork and religious relics were saved – in the process ne firefighter was seriously injured.

“The worst has been avoided,” French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters at the scene shortly before midnight.

The fire was primarily extinguished by 0300 CET on Tuesday.

The visibly moved French President Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron said:  “We will rebuild it together. It will undoubtedly be part of French destiny and our project for the years to come”.

Leaders, politicians, businessmen and others expressed shock and sent condolences to the French people.

The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site which dates back to the 12th century, is a focal point for French Roman Catholics, featured in the famous Victor Hugo’s classic novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,” – and attracts millions of tourists every year.
