Donald Trump writes letter to Prime Minister Pakistan, seeks assistance in Afghan peace process

ISLAMABAD (3rd Dec,2018): US President Donald Trump has written a letter to the Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan seeking Pakistan’s assistance in the Afghan peace process, it was revealed today.

Imran Khan, in a meeting with TV anchors and journalists in the federal capital today revealed that he received a letter from the US President earlier today. In the letter, Donald Trump has asked Pakistan to play its role in Afghan peace talks which are aimed at catalysing an end to the 17-year invasion of Afghanistan by US troops.

Trump has also sought Pakistan’s assistance in bringing the Taliban leadership to the negotiating table, Imran Khan disclosed.

The letter comes days after the US President Donald Trump’s recent allegations against Pakistan whereby he expressed his frustration and defended his administration’s decision to pull hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to Pakistan, saying the country doesn’t do “a damn thing for us”.

Imran Khan, in a series of tweets, had effectively negated the Donald Trump’s allegations.

Today Imran Khan told journalists that previously, Pakistan had been apologetic in its relations with the United States but his government has dealt with the country on equal terms.

In response to Donald Trump’s letter received today Imran Khan assured that Pakistan would play any role possible for peace in Afghanistan.
