26th Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 to increase KP Assembly seats for Tribal Districts passed

ISLAMABAD – (Monday, 13 May 2019) – The 26th Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has  been passed today by the National Assembly (NA) with two-third majority.

None in the NA voted against the bill while 288 (two hundred and eighty eight) voted in favour of the Constitution Amendment.

The purpose of the bill was to increase the seats of tribal districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.  The tribal districts seats in NA have been increased to 12 while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly seats for the tribal districts have been increased from 16 to 24.

The Speaker congratulated the entire nation on the unanimous passage of the amendment.
