Former FATA District’s Tribal culture and traditions to be preserved – Imran Khan
PESHAWAR (Saturday, 18 May 2019) – Addressing the elders of FATA districts (now merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan today reiterated that the tribal culture, traditions and way of living in these districts will remain preserved even after the merger.
He admitted that before war on terror the system of tribal areas was working smoothly and people were getting justice under their tribal system.
Recognizing the importance of the tribal Jirga System he said similarly the alternate dispute resolution system worked well in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last five years and it will also be implemented in merged tribal districts.
He said the local government system is also close to the older system that worked in tribal areas for a long time. He said every village will be provided funds and people will be empowered at the grass root level.
Imran Khan said that after the recently increased number of seats, the people of tribal areas will get more representation in both federal and provincial governments.
Imran Khan while appreciating the role and sacrifices of tribal elders and leaders for peace in the region committed that all their issues will be resolved.
